EJMix

EJMix (33 / 60)

Website: (2/5)

EJMix or Bloomsdays are not very explicit in how they market their products. Firstly, the name “Bloomsdays” does not seem to relate to their known product, EJMix, even though that is the only product they sell. On their website, they have a picture of their bottle in one listing whereas on another listing they have a picture of just the label. It is a little unclear whether they are comparable products or different types of products due to the inconsistency.

Customer Service: (4/10)

Under the “Contact Us” page, there is only a contact form. There is no phone number listed. As a consumer, when I am considering purchasing products it is always good to have a live person you can talk to in order to gather information and even order on the phone. I did use the contact form and received a response within 24 hours.

Shipping: (7/10)

I placed my order on a Thursday morning and received it the next Thursday. They shipped and sent out the tracking info the next day. This was a standard e-commerce shipping experience.

Ease of use: (2/10)

One thing that surprised me was that they recommend to heat “just 10 seconds with a microwave.” From my experience with microwaves, they have a wide variety and variance with power. With that in mind, it was difficult to trust that “10 seconds” would do the trick as it didn’t give an amount that the time was based on. For instance, if I wanted to mix twice the amount, do I still still heat it up for 10 seconds or 20 seconds? Anyways, I mixed 1 gram of wax with 2 mL of EJMix and heated it in the microwave for 10 seconds. When I took it out of the microwave, I mixed it using a luer lock syringe, but it was still not hot enough to mix all the way. I reheated it for 7 seconds and it seemed to have fully mixed by then. One thing I noticed was that the top layer seemed to have boiled, whereas the middle of the wax “blob” stayed warm. It was only because the part that boiled hit the wax melted the wax making it mix together. Although the microwave worked, it did not seem controlled at all and for that I am surprised that is the recommended method of heat.

Taste and Experience (18/25)

The taste was not bad. It did taste very similar to the concentrate, but it was harsher than the other brands. The air felt very heavy, as if I wanted to lick the roof of my mouth and teeth to take off the residue. I am not sure whether this had anything to do with the microwave, but I did notice that the mixed solution was darker than the other brands. This may be due to the boiling that occurred while in the microwave.
